Setting a new standard of care
For Joon Lee, joining Emory Healthcare as CEO was “a no-brainer.” A trained cardiologist, Lee knew Emory was home to Andreas Gruentzig, who transformed the field of cardiology with his development of the balloon angioplasty procedure. That legacy, combined with Atlanta’s growth and Emory’s reputation for academic excellence, made the opportunity even more compelling.
Just over a year into his role, Lee reflects on the progress made and the opportunities ahead. In this conversation with Josh Newton, Lee also talks about his vision for the future, from recruiting top talent to positioning Emory as a leader in patient care and innovation. He highlights the importance of strengthening Emory’s role in academic medicine while building deeper community partnerships to enhance health outcomes.
