Michele Davis 87C wasn’t all that excited about college until a visit to Emory changed everything. Moved by the students she met and the beauty of campus, Davis set her sights on Emory. In fact, it was the only school on her list. A first-generation college student, she found a sense of belonging through volunteer work, residence life, and the support of mentors who helped her feel at home. That experience shaped her path and sparked a lasting connection.
In this Walk & Talk, Davis joins Josh Newton on the Quad to reflect on her journey—from launching the Boston alumni network to serving as an Emory trustee. Along the way, she’s been a constant champion for student-alumni connections.
One of her proudest contributions is helping launch the 1915 Scholars program. As someone who understands firsthand the challenges first-generation and limited-income students face, Davis worked closely with students and the university to bring the program to life. Now called Emory First, the program includes a welcoming space in Cox Hall and resources that help ensure all students have the best Emory experience possible.
