Impactful Collaboration
Atlanta, Georgia

Meet Angelica Geter, one of the leading public health experts in the country. She has made significant contributions to Atlanta as the first chief health officer and co-lead for the city’s COVID-19 Pandemic Response Team. Through her consultancy, Impactful Collaboration, she serves as a senior health advisor and equity researcher to corporations, community-based organizations, and government agencies with an emphasis on measurement, strategic planning, and organizational change. She specializes in the areas of infectious disease, health disparities, racism, and gender-based discrimination.

Geter’s journey into health equity and community engagement began at the Mississippi State Department of Health, inspiring her to pursue studies at Emory’s Rollins School of Public Health. She has been mentored and trained by professionals at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and Morehouse School of Medicine. As a peer-reviewed researcher in health equity and a specialist in health policy, she has also held an executive leadership position in a national nonprofit organization. Her expert advice and research have had a substantial impact on national policies, interventions, and programs.

When she’s not working, Geter enjoys experimenting with new recipes in the kitchen, exploring new cities, dancing, and immersing herself in a good book. She finds peace and accomplishment in spending time with her loved ones and sharing new lessons on how to cultivate rest and wellness for her community.

Geter finds great reward in amplifying the voices of communities that are most impacted by social and structural inequities and collaborating to create solutions that promote sustainable change. Emory played a significant role in her success, providing a strong community, valuable networking opportunities, and a solid education. The friendships and mentors she found at Emory, especially during her time as president of the Association of Black Public Health Students, have had a lasting impact, inspiring and guiding her throughout her career.
