Meet Brandon J. Stewart, a dedicated servant-leader inspired by the legacy of his family. Upon entering the Candler School of Theology, Brandon initially planned to focus on the often-marginalized African American community. However, Emory exposed him to multiculturalism and global perspectives, broadening his approach to service.

After Emory, he served as an English youth pastor in South Korea, deepening his cultural insights and developing his desire to serve internationally. Upon returning to the United States, he balanced law school, Air Force Chaplain Reserves, and pastoral duties, earning his law degree from the University of Dayton Law School. He then served as chief of staff at Payne Theological Seminary in Wilberforce, Ohio, and obtained his law license in the state of Tennessee before transitioning to active duty.

Brandon’s global military journey includes key roles in Germany, Florida, Korea, and Turkey. He recently earned a Master of Arts from Izmir Economic University in Izmir, Turkey, while working at NATO. His accolades include the 2023 National Bar Association’s 40 Under 40 and the Candler School of Theology’s Distinguished Alumni Award.

Brandon loves to travel and explore new cultures. He cherishes spending quality time with his family and friends. He finds fulfillment in helping people solve problems by building strong, supportive relationships and navigating life’s challenges. His holistic approach addresses the full spectrum of human needs, fostering personal growth and happiness while creating a community grounded in hope and mutual support.

He says Emory connected him with a network of strong African Americans at Candler who shared similar cultural experiences. Emory challenged him to understand and empathize with those from different backgrounds, providing a safe space to explore diverse perspectives and teaching him foundational skills in bridging gaps between opposing viewpoints.
