Guided by service, advocacy, and community, Carlos A. Fernández 12Ox 14C began his Emory journey at Oxford College, where small classes and lasting friendships ignited his passion for leadership. At Emory College, he found mentorship and opportunities that shaped his professional path. After earning his law degree from the University of Florida, Fernández served as both a prosecutor and a defense attorney. He then became a trial lawyer at Kenneth S. Nugent, P.C., where he represents Georgians with compassion and determination.
Beyond the courtroom, Fernández is deeply engaged in civic life through his involvement with the State Bar of Georgia and its Young Lawyers Division, the University of Florida Law Alumni Council, and the Georgia Trial Lawyers Association. He also gives back to the community where his Cuban family first settled in Georgia by speaking to students and organizing fundraisers that strengthen Atlanta’s civic fabric. For Fernández, Emory provided a source of inspiration for his ongoing commitment to empowering others and building lasting change.
