Service Line Chief, Pediatrics
Wellstar Health System
Marietta, Georgia
Meet Carrie Stinson, a leader in pediatrics whose journey in medicine began at Emory, where she the School of Medicine and developed her passion for pediatrics. The faculty at Emory and her patients at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston fueled her desire to make a difference in the lives of children. Her residency at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri, equipped her with leadership skills and patient-care experience.
After residency, Stinson returned to Georgia and joined Wellstar Health System as a pediatric hospitalist. She was instrumental in opening and developing the pediatric inpatient unit at Wellstar Kennestone in Marietta. Following years of leadership in pediatric hospital medicine, Stinson was named chief of the pediatric service line for Wellstar in 2023. In this role, she continues to advocate for children through clinical practice, community outreach, educational programs, and medical education, aiming to bring high-quality pediatric care closer to home.
Stinson enjoys spending time with her husband, Joe, and their two young children, Joseph and Lucy. They love being outside, visiting with friends and family, and cheering on the University of Georgia football team. She finds fulfillment in making a difference for children and their families. As a pediatric hospitalist, she often cares for patients during some of the most stressful times in their lives. Reassuring families and seeing their understanding faces when she describes a disease process makes her work worthwhile. She also cherishes the joy of meeting families of newborn babies.
She says Emory gave her the foundation for her career. The faculty and patients at Emory guided her into pediatrics, and the education she received prepared her for a rigorous residency and a career in medical leadership.
