Meet Duncan Cock Foster, a lifelong learner and explorer. Traveling from his hometown of Seattle to Emory University, Foster sought a different experience and found a passion for entrepreneurship. At Emory, he co-founded Edward Foster Clothing with fellow student Ryan Walsh 17C. The popularity of their shirts became a phenomenon on campus, one expression of Duncan’s interest in entrepreneurship. Emory gave him the belief and knowledge that, with the right inititiave, he could help shape the world.
After graduating, Foster moved to the San Francisco Bay Area and launched Nifty Gateway, a digital art marketplace, with his twin brother, Griffin. Under their leadership, Nifty Gateway paid out over $500 million to artists worldwide, many of whom lived in far-flung places and had been overlooked by the traditional art world. Following the sale of Nifty Gateway to Gemini, a crypto currency platform, Foster is now working on a new, yet-to-be-revealed company. His enthusiasm for starting companies remains as strong as it was during his Emory days.
When he’s not working, Foster loves to read about politics and history, travel (having visited a dozen countries in the past year), and collect art. He finds fulfillment in supporting artists and enabling creative careers through his ventures. Emory played a significant role in his success, teaching him to think big and to make an impact on his surroundings.
