Jasmine Clark 13G

Jasmine Clark wears many hats. She is a mom of two, a lecturer, and a state representative. At a young age she realized her love for science, and after earning a bachelor’s degree in microbiology at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, joined the Emory community at the Laney Graduate School in 2006. She earned a PhD in 2013 for her work on retroviral particle tracking using live cell imaging microscopy. In 2014 she completed a postdoctoral project at Emory, studying high-throughput sequencing of HIV patient samples. She currently serves as a lecturer at Emory’s Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing. Clark directed the 2017 Atlanta March for Science. In 2018, she was elected to the Georgia State House of Representatives after running on a platform of bringing a science voice to legislating in Georgia. Her personal philosophy can be summed up by this quote from the late Maya Angelou, “I’ve learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.”
