Health Scientist
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
Lithonia, Georgia

Kiara Maddox 12PH is dedicated to developing strong and effective public health leaders. After earning a biology degree from Spelman College, she pursued a master of public health at Emory’s Rollins School of Public Health, where her HIV research deepened her commitment to equity and service.

Her career has spanned infectious disease surveillance in Georgia and Tennessee, as well as leadership of state and national fellowship programs that have trained and supported dozens of emerging professionals. Now a health scientist at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Maddox manages the agency’s prestigious Evaluation Fellowship Program and takes pride in mentoring fellows who will shape the future of public health.

Recently earning a doctor of public health degree from Georgia State University, Maddox sees every role as an opportunity to open doors for others — just as others once opened doors for her.
