Leila Bucary 05C 06PH


Global Study Manager and Scientist | AstraZeneca | Silver Spring, MD

Born and raised in West Palm Beach, Leila Bucary received two degrees from Emory University: bachelor’s degree in human biology and anthropology and a Master of Public Health. At Emory, her involvement included the ODK Honor Society, Student National Medical Association, Emory Dance Company, Caucus of Emory Black Alumni (CEBA), and the President’s Commission on Race and Ethnicity. Bucary was also named Emory University’s NAACP Overall Woman of the Year in 2005. Upon graduating, she worked as director of Research & Community Outreach at Midtown Urology, and taught SAT courses at The Princeton Review. She relocated to attend Georgetown University School of Medicine and is now working in cancer research at AstraZeneca, where she also serves on the Inclusion & Diversity Committee, the Clinical Trial Diversity Initiative, and volunteers to speak to local students about STEM. She is a published scientific author with five publications in medical journals and has received awards for presenting internationally.
