Vice President of Operations
Upstream Rehabilitation
Charlotte, North Carolina

Meet Lindsay Caruthers, DPT 09, vice president of operations at Upstream Rehabilitation, which offers physical therapy services. With a doctorate in physical therapy from Emory, she has a passion for keeping people moving, engaging patients, and leading and teaching others to do the same. Lindsay was instrumental in growing Upstream’s outpatient therapy practice into the largest private outpatient practice in the country, leading development into the Carolinas with great clinical care and community service.

Caruthers credits her drive and work ethic to her strong upbringing and the values instilled in her at Emory. She believes Emory is more than a university: “It’s a community that gives you purpose if you let it.” She advises students not to be afraid to step into unfamiliar opportunities, as Emory provides the tools and knowledge needed for success.

When she’s not working, Caruthers loves to be active with her family and friends. She and her husband, Adam, enjoy exploring the outdoors with their three children, particularly by camping, hiking, and biking. Lindsay is also an avid runner and enjoys exploring cities on her jogs.

She finds fulfillment in her work by helping people improve their physical abilities, valuing engagement, quality care, and customer service. She says Emory played a significant role in her success, providing a strong foundation and valuable connections that continue to support her today.
