Pediatric Speech Language Pathologist
Allied Research Scientist

Atlanta, Georgia

Nashifa Hooda Momin 08Ox 09C is a pediatric speech-language pathologist and allied health research scientist at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. Her journey into the field began when her father was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease, and she saw how communication challenges affected his daily life. That experience inspired her to better understand these struggles and support others facing similar challenges.

She continued her training at the MGH Institute of Health Professions, earning both a master’s degree in communication science and disorders and a doctorate in speech-language pathology. Initially focused on adult neurogenic disorders, she discovered her true passion in pediatrics, working with medically complex infants and children, especially those with congenital heart disease who have feeding and swallowing difficulties. Momin balances clinical care with research, helping allied health professionals engage in quality improvement and evidence-based practice at Children’s.

Beyond her work in patient care, Momin is actively involved in national collaborations. She serves as secretary of the Cardiac Newborn Neuroprotective Network under the Cardiac Neurodevelopmental Outcome Collaborative and as an invited member of the Pediatric Special Interest Group of the Dysphagia Research Society. Her research continues to focus on improving feeding outcomes and quality of life for children with congenital heart disease, blending her expertise, compassion, and personal drive to help patients and families.
