Newbury Park, California

Driven by a passion for science and social transformation, Ogonna Nwajiobi 22PhD studied chemical biology at Emory’s Laney Graduate School. During his time as a student, he developed chemical tools to detect subtle protein modifications, which advanced early diagnostics for diseases like cancer.

As a process development senior scientist at Amgen, Nwajiobi helps advance the commercial development of high-quality medicines for patients with unmet medical needs. Beyond the lab, he is the founder and president of The Bridge Scholarship, a nonprofit that expands access to higher education for brilliant but financially disadvantaged African students. The organization provides tuition, living expenses, mentorship, and career development, supporting scholars from university entry through graduation.

Originally from Nigeria, Nwajiobi earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in applied biochemistry from Nnamdi Azikiwe University, where he also served as a faculty member before coming to Emory. A mentor and family man, he is committed to raising future leaders equipped to meet global challenges.
