Staff Attorney | Project South | Atlanta, GA

At a young age, Priyanka Bhatt recognized the struggles of her immigrant family and community members. That knowledge catalyzed her passion for social justice work, leading her to double major in psychology and political science at Emory University and explore her calling in the public sector through internships and extracurricular activities. Bhatt continued her passion for social justice as a public service fellow with Dean’s Special Recognition at The Ohio State University, where she received a JD and MA in Public Policy and Management. As a human rights attorney, Bhatt fights for immigrants’ rights through movement lawyering, legislative advocacy, and litigation. She has testified before local, state, and federal legislative committees and members. Bhatt was also the lead author of several groundbreaking publications on human rights violations at ICE prisons, including those that helped end ICE contracts at the Atlanta City Detention Center and Irwin County Detention Center.
