Sarah Maness 11PH is a public health researcher focused on the social determinants of health, particularly reproductive health and community gun violence. She earned a master of public health from Emory’s Rollins School of Public Health, where working on HPV vaccination studies sparked a passion for health equity and inspired her career in academia.
She later completed a doctorate in public health at the University of South Florida and held faculty positions at the University of Oklahoma and the College of Charleston before returning to North Carolina.
Maness’s research explores how social factors drive health inequities, and she has published multiple peer-reviewed articles on HPV vaccination. She has shared her expertise internationally as a Fulbright Specialist, developing workshops on active shooter preparedness in Guayaquil, Ecuador. Her education at Emory opened doors that continue to shape her research, teaching, and commitment to advancing health equity.
