Ariel Fristoe is a national leader in community engagement and arts innovation. As the founder and artistic director of Out of Hand Theater, Fristoe has earned accolades for her work, including The New York Times Best Theater of the Year, the Bloomberg Public Art Challenge, and the Governor’s Award for the Arts and Humanities. She uses theater to spark conversations and promote social justice. Fristoe leads Emory’s Arts Management Concentration and has served as an innovator in residence at The Hatchery. Her work has been featured in the International Journal of Arts Management and American Theatre magazine. Fristoe was named one of Georgia’s 500 Most Influential Leaders by Georgia Trend magazine, and she received the Atlanta Business Chronicle’s Women of Influence Award and the Atlanta Journal-Constitution’s Everyday Hero honor.
