Building Relationships Through Communication: A Conversation with Crystal Edmonson

Newton's Laws

  • Go back to the basics—Utilize available communication tools and various networks to remain connected. Be intentional in your approach to stay in contact with constituents.
  • Create meaningful communication—Be genuineauthentic, and relevant in the way you communicate. Have a clear objective in your “call to action”.
  • Consider a hybrid approach—Think big about various ways to connect with a wide range of constituents at one time (i.e. offering a virtual option for those who can’t attend an event).

In my last blog post, I touched on why it’s important to focus on relationships, while also achieving metrics. I wanted to take a deeper dive and talk about the role of communication in building relationships.

I reached out to someone who I knew would be helpful in this conversation, Crystal Edmonson 95C. She is the Broadcast Editor of Atlanta Business Chronicle. Crystal is also a member of the Emory University Board of Trustees.

Throughout our conversation, we realized that the power of communication transcends most industries. Thank you to Crystal for providing incredible insight and advice.
