Chairman of the Board/Neurosurgeon | Chunilal Initiative/Massachusetts General Hospital  | Boston, MA

Hiren N. Patel chairs the Board of Directors for the Chunilal Initiative. The Chunilal Initiative establishes ongoing neurosurgery missions and centers of excellence in underserved, impoverished, and marginalized communities around the world, including in Sub-Saharan Africa, the West Indies, and the Asian subcontinent. He graduated from Emory with a degree in neuroscience and behavioral biology. Lessons learned in the classroom inspired Patel to create Ambila Therapeutics Inc., a research and development company that specializes in cerebrospinal fluid diversion and neuromodulation. He holds national leadership positions and serves as a clinical faculty member at Harvard Medical School. He is currently a staff neurosurgeon at Massachusetts General Hospital and Avera McKennan Hospital. He enjoys participating in the Emory alumni interview program, which affords him the privilege to mentor the next generation that will inspire and change the world.
