Klaas P. Baks is a leading voice in the alternative investments industry, known for blending rigorous academic insight with real-world investing experience. A professor in the practice of finance at Goizueta Business School, he teaches and conducts research in private equity, venture capital, distressed investing, and entrepreneurial finance. His work has been featured in top academic and business outlets, including the Wall Street Journal, and he has earned 10 major teaching awards, among them Emory University’s highest honor for teaching excellence. Baks is the Atlanta chair of TIGER 21, North America’s premier peer-to-peer learning network for high-net-worth investors. He serves as director or advisor to more than a dozen companies and investment funds with more than $1.5 billion in assets. Prior to Emory, he held positions at Fuji Bank in Tokyo, Deutsche Bank in Hong Kong, and the International Monetary Fund.
