Ushering in a powerful legacy

For Cammie Rice, philanthropy is personal. Driven by love, loss, and a strong commitment to community, Rice has dedicated her time and resources to causes that matter deeply to her. She and her husband, John, endowed a professorship at Winship Cancer Institute of Emory University in honor of their son, ensuring his memory supports education and research. As a 2O36 campaign chair, she helped guide Emory’s vision for the future.

Her work goes beyond Emory. Through Usher’s New Look, Rice supports programs that help young people build leadership skills and plan for the future. And through her foundation, she’s partnering with Emory and Grady Memorial Hospital to address the opioid crisis, developing a new hospital-based role focused on prevention and intervention.

In this conversation with Josh Newton, Rice talks about the experiences and motivation for her giving.
